My Journey to Sigiriya....

Sigiriya is a place everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. It's not just a rock; it's a journey back in time. Recently, I went on a trip to this magnificent world heritage site, and today I am sharing those golden memories with you on my blog.

We started our journey begore sunrise. The best time to climb Sigiriya is early morning-not only to beat the heat but to witness the surrounding beauty at its peak. As we stood at the base of the rock, its sheer majesty was truly breathing.

As you enter, you are greeted by ancient moats and the Water Gardens. It feel like stepping into a time machine. thinking about the advanced hydraulic technology used by ancient kings is mind-blowing. It's said that on rainy days, these fountains still come to life.

Climbing up the spiral stairs, we encountered the famous Sigiriya Frescoes. The fact that these vibrant colors have survived for centuries is a mystery in itself. Then comes the Mirror Wall. Reading the '' Sigiriya Graffiti '' written by ancient travelers makes you feel connected to those who stood there over a thousand years ago.

We took a short break at the Lion's paw terrace. Looking up from here, you realize just how high you've climbed. Passing through those massive stone paws to reach the final summit is a bit intimidating but incredibly thrilling.

Finally, we reached the top! The cool breeze at the summit instantly washed away all our exhaustion. The panoramic view of the lush green forests, Minneriya Tank in the distance, and the neighboring pidurangala Rock looks like a masterpiece on canvas. Walking through the ruins of king Kashyapa's palace, I couldn't help but admire his vision.

Sigiriya is more than just a rock; it is the pride of Sri Lankan artistry and engineering. If you haven't visited yet, make sure to add it to your bucket list!
